Helping Children and Teens Use Social Media Responsibly

In March, PFCS Staff collaborated with Fallbrook Union Elementary School District to present, in both English and Spanish, an informative parent presentation “Internet Safety – Protecting your child from Social Media and Texting”.

The purpose was to help educate parents about the increasing use and significance of social media use amongst children and adolescents and the associated dangers. Common social media sites were presented along with “Signs your child may be a victim of online bullying”, and “How to talk to your Child about Sexting”.

To help prevent misuse, resources such as apps, monitoring sites, and examples of social media contracts were offered as well as a question and answer session to provide parents an opportunity to have individual concerns addressed.
